i found a group that does an online 12 hour speed paint event every sunday: https://www.facebook.com/concepteez. i highly recommend it. especially for beginners.

i managed to catch the last couple of rounds. 50 min each.

vehicle round - hovering bee. not bad!

there was a 15 min break between rounds so i tried to detail it some more. meh...

weapon round - gas powered weapon. fun! :)

evil dead mock comic cover

done for an art bi-weekly challenge: design a cover for a comic book based on the new evil dead movie.

step 1 - doodling thumbnails with various layout ideas. my computer crashed in the middle so no documentation of this step, but still critical step - the idea is everything.

step 2 - blocking in the composition and color scheme and messing with design and layout.  

step 3 - doing the damn thing. lots of googling for photo refs, costume brushes and textures from cgtextures.

kick-ass time!

a while ago there was a challenge on jogees to redesign kick-ass characters in adventure time style.

i googled some pics and did a quick and fun Photoshop sketch of all the main characters i found. (army-guy is from the second movie).

then i inked and colored in flash. not so quick or fun. 

 i planned to do something more poster like but the clean-up took the wind out of my sails.
a couple of weeks later finally managed to gather up some creative energy and tackle flash again.
i like how hit-girl turned out :)

the black version felt more "kick-assy". tried yellow font as well but that was too much.

 male, assassin, melee, orc, earth (can grow stony armor and spikes, moves freely through earth and rocks,  also useful for disposing of bodies quickly)
