i did a gift pictutre for someone on DA:

here is a bit on the process:

1) sketch in photoshop:

2) clean lines in flash. i rarely do this but i always go to flash when i need "clean ink". it's a great help for people with wobbly lines like myself:

 3) back to Photoshop. messing around with colors. i was planning on doing it very detailed and sharp but lost patience at this point and left it soft and simple.

4) color tweaking, light effects and blending modes. every dirty trick in my belt as long as i avoid actual render and polish...:

still, i like how it turned out in the end :)
